Basics of Ibiza

September 18, 2009

If you are planning your summer holiday for this year or the next then there are few places that provide such an experience as Ibiza. Whether you are looking for a relaxing holiday on the beach or a more frantic week of clubbing then Ibiza can offer both and a lot more.

If you didn’t know already, Ibiza is an island in the Mediterranean sea and therefore has a very warm a pleasant climate, as well as great beaches. It isn’t quite as hot at peak temperature as Mallorca but it is pretty close, and will nearly always provide you with good weather for your holiday.

Also if you are planning on going in the winter it won’t be as hot but it wont be that cold either. I’m from the UK and used to freezing temperatures, so an average temperature of 15 degrees for Mallorca seems like quite a good deal!

The first thing you should think about when planning any kind of holiday is how much of a budget you have. You don’t want to spend a long time looking at lots of amazing villas in Mallorca only to discover that you can’t afford them. There is a wide range of prices of villas on the island, so do yourself a favour and get your budget sorted early so you can narrow down your options.

Today you can also get flights a lot cheaper. Budget airlines such as EasyJet fly from all over Europe to the island and if you book early you can get really cheap flights. The more these fill up the more expensive they get though, so try and book early if you can.

Once you get to Ibiza you need to think about getting around the island. If you are there for a long time or want to see the whole island then car rental is definitely a good way to go, although there is lots of public transport available too depending on where you want to go.

If you don’t want to fly to Ibiza then there is also a ferry that goes to Barcelona. It takes about three hours so probably a bit long for a day trip but still might be worth considering. As with any holiday make sure you get all your transport sorted so that you can relax and not have to worry about it. There is nothing worse then having bad transport to get to your holiday destination – it really sets your trip off on completely the wrong foot and may cause arguments!

Having a rental car is also great because as the island is reasonably small it opens up the whole of Ibiza to you. If you do end up staying in Ibiza, have fun!

Families in Ibiza

August 13, 2009

It’s not secret that Ibiza has been trying to improve its reputation for families in the recent past. For a long time it has been known as a wild place for teenagers and young adults to go and party – and it is still great for that. However the island realised that it is missing out on a lot of potential tourism from its amazing beaches, wodnerful scenery and lots of water sports and other run events. For that reason it has been a great success in attracting families, although it still wants to attract more if at all possible.

The most important thing to remember is that you need to take your time when picking a villa in Ibiza, because you want to make sure you are in the right area for your family.
